  Every Boy Needs a Good Dog
  
  Every boy needs a good dog. What is a good dog? A good dog is his dog. Seven year old Jude Gilliam had a good dog until he disappeared. His Beagle, Copper, disappeared some time ago. Now Jude is on a quest to find another dog. Several dog people frequent his mothers Simply Southern restaurant in Pelham, Tennessee. The Mid-South chapter of NAVHDA, North American Versatile Hunting Association, holds events at a training ground in the area owned by members, Norm and Carol Prima. Jude is an engaging young man so it was natural that Bob Kramer would come to know of Judes interest in dogs. Jude is now a junior member of NAVHDA. His keen interest in dogs has led to his decision on a breed he wants his dog to be. To say that Bobs German Shorthair Pointer, Rebel, has impressed Jude is an understatement. Jude says, Rebel is a real smart dog. When asked if he thought Rebel was smarter than his owner, Judes response was an immediate, Yes. The interesting thing is that Bob didnt deny Judes assessment.
  Jude frequently visits training days when his dad can get away to take him. Some of the owners even call on Jude to help with training with planting, launching birds and marking a birds location. He continues to evaluate the performance of the various breeds but it does not seem likely that any will beat out Rebel as his ideal dog. Lest there be any doubt about his commitment to his quest to get a good dog he has been saving money for some time now just for that purpose. Last count was that he had about twenty plus dollars toward his goal. It is not clear exactly how much money it will take to get a dog like Jude wants. There is no doubt that whatever it is Jude will get the money to get a good dog, his dog.
